Intraoral Camera
Our intraoral camera is a unique, handheld device that we’re able to maneuver around your mouth to gain an up-close and detailed view of hard-to-see nooks and crannies between your teeth and around your gums. The image that it captures is displayed on a large chairside monitor, making it an excellent aid when educating patients about the issues they may face, treatment recommendations that we make, and preventive care suggestions.
Digital X-Rays
In the past, dentists used film x-rays to be able to view the area of your mouth that lies below the gum line and isn’t visible to the naked eye. Not only did this method take longer to develop the photo, but the picture quality also wasn’t the best. Today, we utilize digital x-ray imaging, which allows us to easily and accurately plan treatments and diagnose problems like impacted wisdom teeth, tooth infections, and tumors. It also exposes patients to up to 80% less radiation.
Cone Beam Scanner
Our cone beam CT scanner is a neat device that takes a 3D, panoramic image of your entire facial structure in under 30 seconds. You’ll rest your chin on a stand and the cone beam scanner will circle the front side of your face to create a digital rendering of it. When we view the scan, we’ll be able to see the location of facial nerves and sinuses, dentition, and jawbone. This comes in handy when we’re planning oral surgeries like dental implant placement and other complex treatments, like TMJ therapy.
Digital Impressions
Have you ever needed to receive a dental crown, sports guard or nightguard, or Invisalign? You’ve likely had a gag-inducing ball of putty placed in your mouth that you had to bite down on, then. At Pure Dental Spa, we use a small device to capture and create a digital blueprint of your mouth or a tooth. It only takes a minute and is much more comfortable than the putty impression alternative. We’ll send it off to our dental laboratory, where they’ll craft a perfectly-fitted restoration, orthodontic appliance, or mouthguard for you.
Soft Tissue Laser Dentistry
Our soft tissue laser is a helpful device that allows us to eliminate the need for scalpels and sutures in certain procedures as well as to more effectively rid your mouth of harmful bacteria build-up. We typically use this instrument on procedures like laser periodontal therapy and frenectomies in West Loop to easily remove infected or overgrown soft tissue with minimal bleeding, recovery time, and discomfort.
